Union Heavy Industries Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy Test Drives Tata Harrier.EV: Posts Video

The Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, is one of the key figures when it comes to the electric revolution in India. As a result of this, various automakers are now presenting the minister with their latest electric vehicles. Recently, Tata Motors showcased its newest electric SUV, the Harrier.ev, to Kumaraswamy at his residence in Delhi. He was seen being shown the Summon and Auto Park features, and he even drove the SUV inside his premises.
The video showing H.D. Kumaraswamy test-driving the all-new Tata Harrier.ev at his residence has been shared on X by his official handle. The video clip starts off with the Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel standing on the side, while the Tata Harrier.ev was being summoned using its key. Soon after this, the minister was seen talking with officials from Tata Motors.
Following this, Kumaraswamy was seen taking the seat behind the steering wheel of the Harrier.ev. The minister was then guided by a Tata official about the vehicle, after which he wore the seatbelt and started driving this electric SUV. It can be noted that there were a few Tata Motors officials and bureaucrats accompanying him on his test drive.
The Union Minister did not drive the vehicle for a long time. He just drove ahead and then made a U-turn, after which he parked the vehicle. He then posed with the Harrier.ev and the officials from the company. In the post, the minister stated, “Had the unique experience of driving the all-electric TATA Harrier.ev; a smart SUV from the Tata stable featuring autonomous summon, automatic parking, and next-gen connectivity.”
He added, “This demonstration reflects the technological leap India’s EV ecosystem is making under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi avaru. A proud moment for #MakeInIndia and a glimpse into the future of green, sustainable & smart mobility.”
The Tata Harrier.ev, as stated, is currently one of the most talked-about electric SUVs in the market. It also happens to be the only affordable electric SUV with an all-wheel-drive system—or as Tata Motors calls it—“QWD - Quad Wheel Drive.” This all-wheel-drive capability is a result of the Harrier.ev being powered by two electric motors.
In terms of power output, the front motor of the Harrier.ev makes 158 PS, and the rear makes 238 PS. In total, both motors make 396 PS and 594 Nm of torque. This electric SUV, thanks to these dual motors, can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds. It also comes with a boost mode that provides instant acceleration, which is useful during overtakes.
The Harrier.ev starts at Rs 21.49 lakh for the base rear-wheel-drive Adventure variant. From there, it goes all the way up to Rs 28.99 lakh for the Empowered QWD vehicle with the 75 kWh battery pack. The Harrier.ev directly rivals the Mahindra XUV 9E, which is also a very popular electric SUV and has been checked out by H.D. Kumaraswamy. The Union Minister was also recently shown the Kia Clavis EV MPV as well.
