10 New Hybrid Cars Lined Up For India

The first vehicle that will be launched this year will be the seven-seater version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. This new three-row SUV from the brand will be making its debut in the coming months. It will boast a redesigned exterior and an updated interior. As for the powertrain, it will most likely get the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder strong hybrid drivetrain, which will generate around 115 bhp.
Based on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-Seater, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-Seater will get a different exterior design. However, the interior design is expected to be the same as the Grand Vitara. The powertrain option will most likely remain the same, and the launch will be around the same time as the Grand Vitara 7-Seater.
In addition to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder 7-Seater, the Japanese automotive giant is gearing up for the launch of the Fortuner MHEV. The new strong hybrid ladder-on-frame SUV will get the same 2.8-litre diesel engine, which will be assisted by a 48V mild hybrid system. It will make around 217 bhp and 550 Nm of torque. Most likely, it will be launched this year.
The company will be launching its first series hybrid, the Fronx Series Hybrid, this year. For those who may not be aware, in a series hybrid, the engine acts as a generator. All the power to the wheels is sent via the electric motor. This system provides one of the highest ranges.
The new and upcoming generation of the Kia Seltos will become a hybrid. It will come equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine, which will make 141 bhp and 265 Nm of torque. This model will be replacing the soon-to-be-phased-out diesel engine. It will be launched later this year.
Honda has been struggling for a while in India. So, in order to boost its falling sales in the country, the company is gearing up for the launch of the ZR-V. It is expected to come powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine. It will come paired with an electric CVT gearbox and will provide a power output of 180 bhp. This engine will also get hybrid assist and offer all-wheel-drive capabilities.
The South Korean automotive giant Hyundai is also planning to launch the next generation of the Creta with a strong hybrid powertrain. Most likely, it will get the exact same drivetrain as the next-generation Kia Seltos. It is expected to make its debut by 2027.
In addition to the ZR-V, Honda is also planning to launch the Elevate with a strong hybrid powertrain. The Elevate strong hybrid powertrain will comprise a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and two electric motors. The petrol engine alone will make 98 bhp and 126 Nm.
Additionally, the Hyundai Alcazar is also going hybrid. The upcoming model will also get the same powertrain as the new Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos Hybrid. The launch timeline has not been revealed so far.
Honda will also be launching the next generation of the City e:HEV. Presently the exact timeline has not been revealed in India at the moment. Powertrain will most likely remain the same as the present model. Currently the Honda City e:HEV comes powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that runs on an Atkinson cycle.
