4 New Maruti Suzuki Cars To Watch Out For

Maruti Suzuki is back in the limelight. The latest product from India’s largest carmaker, the Victoris, has captured a lot of attention. It sold over 4,200 units in the second half of September, backed by the smart packaging and solid value proposition. The carmaker seems to have exciting product plans for the future as well. Here are four new Maruti cars and SUVs to watch out for.
Maruti Suzuki will launch its first-ever electric SUV, the eVitara, in India in December this year. It was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. The eVitara will enter the mid-size EV space, and compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.EV and Mahindra BE6, when launched.
Scheduled to be sold through the Nexa dealerships, the eVitara will offer two battery choices- 49 kWh and 61 kWh, sourced from BYD. The former will come with a single motor setup that generates 144 Bhp and 189 Nm. The 61 kWh version is offered with both single-motor and dual-motor (AWD) setups in global markets. Just the single-motor version is likely to come to India. It will have a motor output of 174hp and 300 Nm.
This EV will be underpinned by the HEARTECT-e platform and will be manufactured at Maruti’s Gujarat plant.
On the design front, Maruti eVItara will have LED headlamps, LED DRLs, a closed-off grille finished in Gloss Black, and connected LED tail lamps. The cabin will have a modern, fresh design. Maruti Suzuki will equip the eVitara with features like an electric sunroof, rotary gear shifter, a floating-type touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and ventilated for front seats. The EV will have three drive modes- Eco, Normal, and Sport.
The carmaker also has plans to enter the hybrid race in the coming years. The first hybrid will be based on the Fronx. Maruti has already begun the road trials of this vehicle. It will have a newly developed series hybrid powertrain that uses Maruti’s Z12E as its base. This engine is, in fact, the same one that is used in the fourth-generation Swift. The hybrid version will obviously be more powerful.
In the hybrid Fronx, the electric motors will drive the wheels, and the engine will act as a generator to charge the battery. This setup is often referred to as a ‘range extender’. The hybrid version is expected to return a fuel efficiency of around 35 kpl. In addition to the new powertrain, this vehicle will also come with features like Level 2 ADAS.

Maruti’s second EV for India will be an electric MPV. It is internally codenamed YMC. The launch is expected by September next year. The production form will slot in as a practical, family EV, rivalling the likes of the Kia Carens Clavis EV. It will be based on the same skateboard platform used in the eVitara- the HEARTECT-e. It will thus have an EV-first design and will be well-packaged.
The electric MPV is likely to come with two battery packs, likely in the range of 40 kWh and 60 kWh, sourced from BYD. It is expected to return a range of around 450 km per charge. The vehicle will have a rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout. According to reports, Toyota is expected to roll out its own version of this vehicle in the future.
Another big launch from Maruti Suzuki will be the flex-fuel version of the Fronx. It will break cover in Japan this year and will be brought to India in 2026. Suzuki says that both the 1.2 litre and 1.5 litre petrol engines used in various models are flex-fuel-ready. However, the production-spec Flex fuel model will likely use the 1.2L engine.
It is expected to support up to E85 blends. This will, in fact, be the same engine featured in the Wagon R flex-fuel concept. Since it is E-85 compliant, the flex fuel version of Fronx will use Ethanol-resistent materials in components like the tank, fuel lines, seals etc. These powertrains will also use more sensors to measure the Ethanol content in fuel and change the engine characteristics accordingly. We hope to learn more about this vehicle in the coming months....
