The German automotive giant Volkswagen currently has only three product offerings in India. Presently, the sales of these three models are decent; however, all three are in need of a refresh. It has been reported that the company is already working on these models, and they will be officially launched next year. So, without any delay, here are the details of the three upcoming cars from Volkswagen India.

Virtus Facelift

The first and most important car that will be coming from Volkswagen next is the Virtus facelift. First launched in March 2022, replacing the aging Vento sedan, the Virtus has become a hit in the country. It is currently regarded as the best budget performance car in India. Over the period since its launch, the company has introduced a number of different variants of this sedan.

However, a complete refresh/facelift of this popular sedan is pending. Reports suggest that the company could be giving this car a much-needed facelift sometime next year. Most likely, as part of this update, it will receive a number of aesthetic upgrades.

These will include new front and rear bumpers and maybe a different style for the LED headlights and taillights. However, apart from these, the main highlights will be the addition of ADAS Level 2 and a panoramic sunroof. The interior could also see new upholstery and a new color scheme.

As for the powertrain, it will likely remain the same, with the same 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol units. The former produces 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque, while the latter produces 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

Taigun Facelift

Based on the same MQB A0 IN platform, the Taigun mid-size SUV shares all of its underpinnings with its sibling, the Virtus. It has also been in the market since 2021 and has seen a number of new variants and limited editions being launched. However, it is also due for a major facelift.

Most likely, along with the Virtus, the Taigun will also receive a thorough facelift. Its updates will most likely include a new front and rear bumper and slight alterations to the design of the LED headlights and taillights. But like the Virtus, its main highlight will be the addition of ADAS and a panoramic sunroof. Powertrains will likely remain the same.

Tayron (Tiguan Replacement)

Presently, Volkswagen does not offer any seven-seater SUV in the Indian market. A while ago, it used to offer the Tiguan Allspace in India; however, that was discontinued due to lackluster sales. So now, the company is planning to pull the plug on the Tiguan completely, and following its discontinuation, it will launch the new Tayron full-size SUV.

This seven-seater SUV will take on the Skoda Kodiaq, Nissan X-Trail, Jeep Meridian, and other premium SUVs. It will be based on the updated MQB platform and will be brought in as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) kits. It will then be assembled in India.

The Tayron in international markets will come available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol or turbocharged 2.0-liter diesel engine. Both engines will get a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard.

Apart from these, the international models will also get two petrol plug-in hybrids (PHEVs). Both of them will make 204 bhp and 272 bhp and will also offer an electric-only range of over 100 km.

Unfortunately, the Indian model will only come with the 2.0-liter petrol engine. This particular motor could be offered in two states of tune. The less powerful variant could make 184 bhp and 320 Nm, while the more powerful variant produces 217 bhp and 350 Nm.
