With its smart packaging and aggressive market positioning, Vinfast VF6 has made a bunch of popular electric vehicles face the heat. The Hyundai Creta EV, Kia Carens Clavis EV, and Tata Curvv EV are its primary rivals here. Let’s now see how the VF6 stacks up against these.

Dimensions

The length, width and height of the VF6 are 4,241 mm, 1,834 mm and 1,580 mm respectively. The wheelbase stands at 2,730 mm, and the electric SUV has a ground clearance of 190mm.

The Creta Electric measures 4340 mm in length, 1790 mm in width, and 1655 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2610 mm and a slightly higher ground clearance of 200 mm.

The Curvv EV’s length, width, and height are 4310 mm, 1810 mm, and 1637 mm, respectively. It has a wheelbase of 2560 mm and the same ground clearance as the VF6- 190mm.

The Kia Clavis EV has a three-row cabin and measures 4550 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, and 1730 mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2780 mm, and the ground clearance at 200 mm. The Kia is the largest of the four.

Design

Let’s start with the Curvv.EV. It gets a sleek, good-looking design. It gets a closed-off grille, nose-mounted charger, stylish front bumper with vertical styling elements, coupe-like roofline, 18-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels, and all-LED lighting. Five colour options are available on the Curvv.EV.

The Kia Clavis EV borrows most of its design cues from the petrol/diesel counterpart. It, however, gets a slightly tweaked front bumper with aero flaps, nose-mounted charging point, LED DRLs, LED headlamps fog lamps, and tail lamps, and aero-optimised 17-inch wheels. It comes in six colour options.

The Creta Electric has almost the same design as the petrol/diesel version of the SUV. EV-specific cues like a closed-off front grille, pixel-like details on the front bumper, active air flaps, nose-mounted charging port, faux skid plates, and 17-inch aero-wheels can also be found on the electric SUV. It comes in seven colours.

The VF6 has a clean, modern design. Styled by Italy’s Torino Design, it gets full-width LED DRL strips at both the front and rear, a V-shaped Vinfast logo, regular pull-type handles, split projector headlamps, and 18-inch wheels. The design has a strong focus on aerodynamics.

Interior And Features

The VF6’s cabin has a minimalistic design. It is well-kitted and functional as well. A large 12.9-inch touchscreen can be found at the centre of the dashboard. Most of the vehicle functions are integrated into it. A few physical buttons present nearby can be used to toggle between the Drive, Neutral, and Reverse modes.

The feature list includes an eight-way powered driver seat, dual-zone automatic AC, Head Up Display (HUD), Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front row ventilation, an eight-speaker audio system, air purification system, 360 camera, and Level 2 ADAS. The EV comes with a three-spoke steering wheel.

The Curvv.EV gets the same cabin layout as the petrol/diesel counterpart. It gets a white and grey dual-tone colour scheme. The dashboard design would remind you of the Nexon.

The electric SUV coupe comes with features like a 12.3-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, touch-based climate control panel, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated six-way adjustable front seats, two-step rear seat recline function, cooled glove box, connected car tech, electronic parking brake, V2L and V2V, panoramic sunroof, 9-speaker JBL sound system, Level 2 ADAS, and a powered tailgate with gesture control.

The Creta Electric’s cabin offers ample room and occupant comfort. The EV shares a lot of its interior panels and surfaces with the regular Creta. It comes with features like two 10.25-inch screens- one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation, panoramic sunroof, an 8-speaker Bose audio system, dual-zone AC, rear vents, in-car payment, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, V2L charging, electronic parking brake (EPB), 360-degree camera, and level 2 ADAS.

The Clavis EV is very spacious inside. It has a three-row seating layout and shares most of its features with the Creta Electric. You get the likes of two 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, connected car features, one-touch electric tumble for the second-row seat, V2L charging, and even a Boss Mode. There is even a switchable touch-sensitive panel for HVAC and media controls offered.

All four electric SUVs are well-equipped with safety features. You get a lot of safety tech like ABS, EBD, ESP, and more. The VF7 comes with seven airbags. All other e-SUVs offer six airbags.

Powertrain Specifications

The VF6 comes only with a single battery option- a 59.6kWh unit. It gets a front wheel drive (FWD) layout and has a motor output of 201 bhp and 310 Nm. It has a claimed range of 468 km per charge. It takes 8.9 seconds to sprint to 100 kph from a complete standstill.

The Curvv.EV offers two battery pack choices- 45 kWh and 55 kWh. The 55kWh version is a proper rival to the VF6. It offers a range of 585 km on a single charge. The electric motor on this version produces 167hp, and the coupe SUV can do the 0-100 kph sprint in just 8.6 seconds- slightly faster than the VF6. It has a top speed of 160 kph.

The Hyundai Creta Electric and the Carens Clavis EV share the same powertrains and underpinnings. Two battery packs are on offer on both models- 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The larger battery versions compete well with the VF6. The 51.4kWh battery claims to deliver a range of 490km on the Clavis EV and 473km on the Creta Electric. The larger battery versions of the Clavis EV and the Creta Electric have motor outputs of 171hp and 255 Nm.

The (long range) Carens EV takes 8.4 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 kph speed. The Creta Electric is faster and takes just 7.9 seconds for the same. Both are faster than the VF6.

Price Comparison

Finally, let’s compare the prices of these electric SUVs. The VF6 starts at Rs 16.49 Lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 18.29 Lakh. The 55 kWh Curvv.EV has an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 19.25 lakh. The range-topping variant costs Rs 21.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The Creta Electric’s Long Range (51.4 kWh) lineup starts at Rs 20 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to Rs 23.67 lakh. The Clavis EV has ex-showroom prices of Rs 22.49 lakh and Rs 24.49 lakh, respectively, for the long-range variants.
