Putting an end to anticipations, the Vietnamese carmaker Vinfast has finally revealed its India launch date. The automaker will announce the prices of its first products for India on September 6, 2025. As discussed in our previous stories, the VF6 and VF7 will be the first products to launch here. Both will be electric SUVs and will be assembled at its plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The first product to roll out of the newly set-up factory was a VF7.

Vinfast VF6 And VF7: What Are They?

Let’s now take a look at the Vietnamese company’s first products for India. The VF6 is the smaller of the two. It will be a mid-size E- a rival to the Hyundai Creta Electric. When launched, it will also battle the likes of Mahindra BE6, Tata Curvv EV and even the MG ZS EV. It will likely be offered in two variants- Earth and Wind. Even in international markets, the VF6 has a two-variant game plan.

Circling back to the India-spec, Both SUVs will have recognisable designs (both were designed by Torino Design, Italy) and comfortable, tech-packed cabins. The VF6 will be available in six colours- Jet Black, Desat Silver, Infinity Blanc, Crimson Red, Zenith Grey, and Urban Mint.

Vinfast VF6: Overview

We expect Vinfast to price the VF6 competitively. It will likely have its ex-showroom price in the range of Rs 20-25 lakh. The vehicle will come with features like a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, driver assist systems, a head-up display (HUD), air purifier, and a 360° camera. It will also have a slew of safety features, including seven airbags.

The VF6 will come with a 59.6kWh battery pack and a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The motor output will likely be 204 hp- the highest in its segment. The ARAI/MIDC range figures are yet to be revealed. The WLTP range of this battery pack is 480 km per charge.

Vinfast VF7: Overview

vf7

The VF7 will be a larger SUV, and will become the company’s flagship when launched. It will go against the likes of the Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV, and will likely be priced in the range of 25-30 lakh rupees. The VF7 will have both 2WD and 4WD forms in India, and will feature a large 70.8kWh battery pack. On the 2 Wheel Drive version, the motor will sit on the front axle.

It will borrow the 204 hp motor from the VF6. In the AWD variant, however, there will be electric motors on both axles, making a combined output of 350hp and 500Nm. 0-100 kph will come in just 5.8 seconds. The AWD version will likely deliver a range of around 431km while the range offered by the FWD version is expected to be 450 km per charge.

Like the smaller Vinfast, the VF7 will also come packed with features- with strong focus on both comfort and safety. As many as 22 ADAS features are expected on the flagship Vinfast. It will also come with a 10-year or 2 lakh km warranty. There will be a strong sharing of features and technologies between the two Vinfast models.
