3 New Vinfast Electric Cars Confirmed For India With Launch Timelines: What To Expect

After seeing a lot of its lineup at Auto Expo 2025, we now have more details of Vinfast's product plans for India. The Vietnamese car brand will enter the fiercely competitive Indian market with two models, this year- the VF6 and VF7. A third launch will follow later, which will likely be the 2-door VF3. Let's take a closer look at these...
The flagship VF7 has been designed in collaboration with the Italian design house Torino Design. It has a good-looking design with a strong focus on aerodynamics. The vehicle will come with a wide LED light bar, muscular haunches, and a clean, coupe-like roofline.
While the global spec gets 20-inch wheels, the Indian model could come with 19-inchers. The EV could have atleast four colour options on offer, when launched- Jet Black, Brahimny White, Crimson Red and Neptune Grey. The Auto Expo show car had the Crimson Red colourway.
The VF7 will offer the likes of a camera-based ADAS, 360-degree camera, a large touchscreen unit, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, leatherette upholstery, and more.
It gets two variants in international markets- Eco and Plus. Both come with the same 75.3kWh battery pack. The 'Eco' gets a single-motor setup which produces 204hp and 310Nm, while the Plus has a dual-motor powertrain that makes 354hp and 500Nm. The range figures of these variants are 450km and 431km respectively.
We expect Vinfast to launch this product in India by September this year. With the right price, it will lock horns with the Hyundai IONIQ 5, BYD Sealion 7, KIA EV6 facelift and the BMW iX1 LWB.
The VF6 will sit below the VF7 in Vinfast's lineup. It will be a compact electric SUV, that will likely play the volume game. The VF6 will measure around 4.3 metres in length- almost the same as the Creta EV. Like the VF7, it comes in two variants globally- Eco and Plus. The former will likely have a range of 399 km while the latter would have around 381 km. The Eco variant will have 174PS and 250 Nm while the Plus takes the power figures to 201 PS.
The VF6 will come with features like a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, connected car tech, and Level 2 ADAS. It will have a minimalist cabin design with a strong focus on technology.
The VF6 could find success in urban India, with its modern design, compact proportions and healthy range figures. We expect it to launch sometime during the festive season this year, likely after the VF7's market debut.
The VF3 is a pint-sized electric hatchback that was showcased at Auto Expo. This all-electric micro-SUV has a bold, boxy design and measures just over 3 metres in length. It gets flared wheel arches, rugged bumpers and more.
The VF3 will have a single-motor layout, and will be powered by a small battery pack that will likely return a range of around 200 km per charge. It will have a strong focus on affordability and practicality and could find success in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities when launched. The primary rival will be the MG Comet EV, which is quite popular in many Indian cities.
Vinfast could start accepting orders for the VF6 and VF7 in June 2025. The VF3 could follow later. The company will set up dealerships across India, which won't be limited to metro cities alone.
Vinfast's new plant in Tuticorin is nearing completion. It will have an initial production capacity of 50,000 units per year. In the long run, this will be scaled to 150,000 vehicles per year. Vinfast will also consider exports from this plant.
We will have to wait till launch to see if the company would offer a Battery As A Service (BaaS) model of ownership for its products.
