VinFast Opens Bookings for VF 6 and VF 7 Electric SUVs in India @ Rs 21,000

VinFast has opened pre-bookings for its upcoming electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7, ahead of their launch in August. Customers can now reserve either model through the company’s website or authorised showrooms for a refundable amount of ₹21,000. The announcement follows the brand’s debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year and signals the start of a major retail and manufacturing rollout in the country.
Deliveries for the VF 6 and VF 7 will begin after the opening of VinFast’s new factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The facility is expected to play a central role in VinFast’s manufacturing plans, both for local consumption and export.
VinFast is introducing two distinct products to cater to different customer needs. The VF 7 is a more performance-oriented SUV with a spacious cabin, Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, and connected features. It is aimed at buyers looking for a tech-rich and premium urban driving experience.
The VF 6, meanwhile, has been designed with families in mind. It offers a more compact footprint but retains many of the premium features seen on the VF 7, including ADAS, signature lighting, and a panoramic roof. Both vehicles are expected to offer real-world range that addresses everyday city use, intercity drives, and weekend trips.
While specific range and pricing figures are yet to be revealed, the early communication suggests that both models will try to strike a balance between features, comfort, and affordability. VinFast is positioning them as full-featured electric SUVs suitable for local roads and usage patterns.
VinFast has signed agreements with 13 dealer partners and plans to open 32 showrooms across 27 cities. These include Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Coimbatore, and others. This early focus on both metro and Tier 2 locations reflects the company’s attempt to quickly build visibility and accessibility.
The dealerships will follow a 3S format, offering sales, service, and spares. This approach is intended to address common customer concerns around post-purchase support, especially for new EV buyers.
To support the vehicles and their users, VinFast is developing an allied ecosystem for charging and service. It has partnered with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure to offer a mix of real-time charging access, remote diagnostics, and roadside support. These partnerships aim to create a dependable support framework that works in tandem with the company’s dealership rollout.
For battery sustainability, VinFast has also partnered with BatX Energies, a company focused on battery recycling and rare metal recovery. This will help in setting up a battery reuse and recycling pipeline, an area that is gaining increasing importance as EV adoption grows.
The Thoothukudi facility, representing a ₹4,100 crore investment, is projected to have an annual capacity of 1.5 lakh vehicles. Once operational, it will employ around 3,500 people. Local production is expected to play a key role in pricing strategy, parts availability, and long-term market presence.
This approach is notably different from brands that start with imports before committing to local manufacturing. By choosing to assemble both the VF 6 and VF 7 within India from the outset, VinFast is aiming to control costs, offer quicker delivery timelines, and meet localisation norms.
The midsize electric SUV space is becoming increasingly active. Models like the MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon EV, and the Hyundai Kona already compete in this space. VinFast’s success will depend on how the VF 6 and VF 7 are priced and how well they deliver on their feature and range claims.
However, the combination of nationwide reach, strong product features, and early investment in infrastructure gives VinFast a foundation to compete seriously from the start. The next few months, particularly post-launch, will be key in showing whether that potential can translate into volumes.
