Vinfast to Showcase 3 SUVs and Pick-up at At Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

Vietnamese automaker VinFast has confirmed its participation at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, scheduled to take place from January 17 to 22 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The company will showcase several electric vehicles, including the compact VF3 SUV, the VF9 three-row SUV, and the VF Wild electric pickup concept. This marks VinFast’s formal entry into the Indian market at a time when the EV segment seems poised for take-off on the back of exciting launches by Mahindra, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
The Vinfast models being showcased are:
The VF3 is a 3-door compact SUV designed for urban and semi-urban use. It measures 3,190 mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,075 mm. Equipped with a single rear-mounted electric motor generating 43.5 PS and 110 Nm of torque, the VF3 is powered by an 18.64 kWh battery pack that provides a claimed range of up to 215 km. The vehicle supports DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in 36 minutes. Its ground clearance of 191 mm makes it versatile for various road conditions.
The VF9 is a larger SUV with three rows of seating. It measures over 5.1 meters in length and has a wheelbase exceeding 3.1 meters. The vehicle is powered by dual electric motors that produce a combined 408 PS and 620 Nm of torque, delivering all-wheel drive. Its 123 kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of up to 531 km (Eco trim). The battery supports fast charging, with 10% to 70% charge achievable in 35 minutes. The VF9 is positioned as a practical option for families and groups requiring spacious interiors and extended range.
The VF Wild is an electric pickup concept first unveiled at CES 2024. Measuring 5,324 mm in length and 1,997 mm in width, it features a power-folding mid-gate that extends the bed length from five feet to eight feet when the rear seats are folded down. Other features include a panoramic glass roof and digital side mirrors. As a concept vehicle, production specifications are yet to be finalized, but it is expected to emphasize functionality and adaptability.
Although not officially confirmed, the VF7 is expected to be showcased at the expo. This mid-size SUV is available globally in two trims—Eco and Plus. The Eco variant features a single motor delivering 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque, while the Plus variant includes dual motors with a combined output of 349 bhp and 500 Nm. Both variants come equipped with a 75.3 kWh battery pack, offering ranges of 450 km and 431 km, respectively. Its dimensions and powertrain options make it a suitable choice for urban and intercity travel.
VinFast, a subsidiary of the Vingroup conglomerate, began its operations in 2017. Headquartered in Vietnam, the company initially focused on internal combustion engine vehicles before transitioning to electric vehicles in 2022. With an expanding portfolio that includes electric cars, buses, and scooters, VinFast has established a presence in markets such as the United States, Europe, and Canada. The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 will serve as a platform for the automaker to introduce its products to Indian consumers and showcase its capabilities in sustainable mobility.
VinFast’s entry into India coincides with the country’s growing interest in electric mobility. While the Indian automotive market presents significant opportunities, it also poses challenges such as price sensitivity, brand loyalty, and the need for robust EV infrastructure. The automaker’s decision to establish a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu signals its commitment to catering to local demand and reducing costs through localized production.
India has already witnessed the successful entry of global players like MG Motors, Kia, and BYD. For VinFast to succeed, it will need to offer competitive pricing, build a strong after-sales network, and align its offerings with the preferences of Indian consumers. Features such as extended range, quick charging capabilities, and practical designs could be key differentiators.
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 will be a pivotal moment for VinFast as it seeks to carve out a space in the Indian automotive market. With its lineup of electric vehicles spanning compact SUVs, three-row family SUVs, and electric pickups, the company is entering a competitive but promising segment. While its products look strong on paper, the company has faced challenges on quality front. Addressing those challenges, aggressive pricing and building a large dealer network would be critical if Vinfast wants to win fast in Indian market.
