VinFast Unveils VF 7 And VF 6 Electric SUVs In India

The Vietnamese automaker VinFast has been eyeing the Indian car market for a long time. It has now finally managed to make its debut in India with two of its popular models: the VF 7 and VF 6. Both of these models are expected to be launched before the festive season of this year.
VinFast has launched the VF 7, a 5-seater model with dimensions similar to the Hyundai Tucson. It measures 4,545 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. As for the wheelbase, it is 2,840 mm. The VinFast VF 7 boasts a unique crossover SUV design with a very modern and aggressive fascia. At the front, it gets a split headlight setup with a thin LED connecting one side to the other.
This particular LED DRL surrounds the VinFast V logo in the middle. As for the headlight units, they are LED projectors that also feature an inverted L-shaped LED DRL. There is no traditional grille on top as it is an EV. However, there is a honeycomb-pattern grille at the bottom, which sits in the center of the aggressive front bumper.
On the side profile, the VF 7 boasts a simple yet bold silhouette. It gets flush-type door handles and huge 20-inch alloy wheels (19-inch on the lower-spec variant). Apart from these, the rear also continues with the same aggressive design language, and the main highlight is its connecting LED taillight, which surrounds the VinFast emblem on the tailgate.
As for the interior, the VinFast VF 7 gets a simple and elegant dashboard layout with a brown and black color theme. The main highlight of its cabin is the massive 15-inch floating touchscreen in the middle. What’s unique about the VF 7’s interior is that it does not come with a traditional digital driver’s display.
It gets a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, drive selection buttons underneath the touchscreen infotainment system, and two cup holders on the center console. Most of the features, including the air conditioner, are controlled via the touchscreen in the middle. Also, this particular screen is tilted towards the driver. The VinFast VF 7 also gets ADAS Level 2.
The VinFast VF 7 comes with two powertrain options. The first is the Eco trim, which comes equipped with a single electric motor capable of producing 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. It gets a front-wheel-drive configuration and a 75.3 kWh battery pack providing a range of 450 km.
Meanwhile, the other option is the Plus trim, which comes equipped with dual electric motors. These motors are capable of producing 349 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. It is offered with an all-wheel-drive configuration and also gets the same battery pack — 75.3 kWh. The range, however, is slightly lower at 431 km.
Although the company has not yet revealed the pricing of the VF 7 electric SUV, it is expected to be priced around Rs 60–65 lakh.
In addition to the VF 7, the Vietnamese automaker has also launched the VF 6 in India. This model will sit below the VF 7 and will be similarly sized to the Hyundai Creta Electric and the Maruti Suzuki eVitara. On the outside, it gets a bulbous design with a split headlight setup at the front.
The top half features a closed-off grille, connecting LED DRL, and the lower section gets an air dam in the middle. As for the side profile, it gets large 17-inch and 19-inch alloy wheels (different on Eco and Plus variants). The rear also features the same connecting LED taillight. Its overall silhouette is very rounded.
On the inside, the VinFast VF 6 gets an almost identical layout to the VF 7. It features a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the middle, which controls all the essential features of the vehicle. It also comes with ADAS Level 2, including features like adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, emergency braking, and others.
The VF 6 is offered in two variants, namely Eco and Plus. However, in India, we are only getting the Eco variant. It comes with a single electric motor and a front-wheel-drive configuration. It makes 174 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. As for the battery pack, it is offered with a 59.6 kWh battery pack providing a range of 410 km.
