Vietnamese EV-maker Vinfast has stunned us with the prices of its much-awaited electric SUV duo- the VF6 and VF7. Both EVs have undercut their respective rivals with their ex-showroom prices. This has pumped up the excitement around them. For those who’ve been waiting for the same, YouTuber Baiju N Nair has shared an in-depth video tour of the VF6 and VF7. The video explains every detail of the EVs’ design and feature list.

Vinfast VF6 Walkaround On Video

For the uninformed, the VF6 is a compact electric SUV- a rival to the Creta Electric. The host starts by saying that the company manufactures both vehicles at its newly-built plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Both electric SUVs have high degrees of localisation gone into them. These have helped the carmaker in giving them disruptive pricing.

The host talks about the design and dimensions of the VF6. It has a wheelbase of 2730 mm and an overall length of 4.2 meters. In many global markets, the VF6 comes with 19-inch wheels. The India-spec, however, has 18-inch wheels and a higher ground clearance of 190 mm. The wheels, again, aren’t aero-optimized units. He even shows us the EV’s charging port. He also shows that the VF6 lacks a spare wheel.

In the video, we can also see the VF6’s cabin and features. The layout and colour scheme feel premium. There is a generous use of premium trims and finishes inside. The EV has a full-width glass roof. Vinfast says that they’ve used glass that lets less heat in, to make this.

The VF6 comes with features like a 3-spoke steering wheel, digital driver display, coloured head-up display (HUD), a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an 8-speaker sound system. The host further says that the sound system delivers a great audio experience. He also shows the space and practicality at the rear.

As for the powertrain, the VF6 comes with a 59.6 kWh battery pack and a front axle-mounted electric motor. It thus has a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) layout. The motor output here is 204 hp on the top variant. The lower variant makes 177hp. The less powerful version has a claimed range of 468km per charge.

Later in the video, we get to see the VF7 in detail. It is significantly larger than the VF6. It is over 4.5 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2840mm. The host talks about the various design highlights of the electric SUV. It comes with flush-type door handles. In the Indian market, the EV competes with the likes of Mahindra XEV 9e and the Tata Harrier.EV. Like the smaller SUV, this rides on 18-inch wheels, which however, get an aero-optimised design.

Inside, the VF7 offers more space and has a more premium design. It gets almost the same set of features as the smaller VF6. The electric SUV comes with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone auto AC with rear vents, a large infotainment system, ventilated front seats, a digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, and a panoramic glass roof.

In the video, the host says how the two Vinfast models look similar to each other and feature a ‘family face’. Both the VF6 and VF7 have, in fact, been designed by Italy’s Torino Design House. The cabin designs too, are similar in some way, and have a strong focus on ensuring space and practicality.

On the powertrain front, the VF7 has both a FWD and All Wheel Drive (AWD) variants on offer. The FWD uses the same 204 hp electric motor together with a 59.6 kWh battery pack while the more powerful version has a 70.8 kWh unit. The AWD variant has a combined output of 353 hp! The entry-spec variant produces 177hp. The ARAI range figures of the entry, mid and top variants are 438 km, 532 km and 510 km respectively.
