VinFast VF6 Electric SUV Spotted Testing: Launch Soon?

The Vietnamese electric automaker VinFast is gearing up to launch its electric vehicles in India. Its first model, which will make its debut, will be the VF6 mid-size SUV, which will be taking on rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, and others. Recently, the test mule of the VF6 electric SUV was spotted testing in Mumbai. It is believed that the VinFast VF6 electric SUV could be launched in India by September of this year.
An image of a heavily camouflaged VinFast VF6 being parked at a charging station has been shared online. Apart from the image, it has been reported that the company, along with the VF6, is also testing the larger VF7 electric SUV in India as well. Currently, the company is evaluating the compatibility of its vehicles with third-party charging networks.
VinFast, at the moment, is assessing the charging performance of its vehicles across various regions. It also wants to ensure that the integration with public charging infrastructure is easy. Also, the company is aiming to address any issues via software-level updates for smoother charging.
In addition to this, the company is also planning to bring its subsidiary, V-Green, which is its EV charging arm, to India. With the help of V-Green, the company will offer DC fast chargers from 60 kW to 300 kW. The company recently has officially listed India as an operational market. Also, V-Green has started announcing strategic partnerships, and Tata Power could be one of the collaborators.
The VinFast VF6 electric SUV, as mentioned, will be sitting below the VF7 EV SUV in India. This model will take on electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, Tata Harrier.ev, and others. In terms of design, it will get a rounded-off overall aesthetic. At the front, there will be split LED headlights and connected LED DRLs. It could also get 17–19-inch alloy wheels, which are dependent on the variant chosen.
On the inside, the VinFast VF6 will come equipped with a massive 12.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment system. Its other features will include an ADAS Level 2 suite, including features such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and many others. Overall, the interior design will be minimalistic, but we can expect higher-quality materials.
Most likely, the Vietnamese electric automaker will be offering the VF6 in the Eco variant in India. This model will come powered by a front-wheel-drive single electric motor, which will make 174 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. As for the battery pack, it will most likely get 59.6 kWh, which will be able to provide a range of 410 km on a single full charge.
In international markets, the VF6 is also offered in a Plus variant as well, which offers 198 bhp and 309 Nm of torque. The range, however, of this variant gets reduced to 381 km on a single full charge. As mentioned, the company will also be launching the VF7 in India as well. This larger EV SUV will come with a bigger 75.3 kWh battery pack.
As for the reports, it will be offered with both single- as well as dual-motor options. The former will produce 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the dual-motor variant will make 349 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Its range will be 450 km for the single-motor variant and 431 km for the dual-motor variant.
