The Vietnamese electric car manufacturer Vinfast has finally made its debut in India. To ensure that it becomes successful in the Indian automotive market, the company has launched its most affordable model, the VF6, with a starting price tag of Rs 16.49 lakh. Recently, a video showing the VF6 base variant has been shared online.
This detailed video walkaround of the Vinfast VF6 has been shared on YouTube by Ajit Godse on his channel. It starts with the host mentioning that the base variant of the Vinfast VF6 is priced at Rs 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and offers a number of features, making it a value-for-money purchase. He then starts showing the vehicle.
He begins at the front of the vehicle and mentions that it has a very curvaceous body with no sharp lines. He adds that it features the signature Vinfast V logo in the middle, flanked by LED DRLs, which also form the Vinfast V logo. As for the headlights, they are LED projector units set in the middle portion of the front bumper.
He points out that even the base variant of the VF6 comes equipped with ADAS Level 2, and the sensors for the system are placed on the lower honeycomb grille. The host also shows the air ducts located on either side of the SUV's front bumper, which he mentions are for improving aerodynamic efficiency.
Next, he moves to the side profile of the SUV and shows the chunky side claddings and the 17-inch silver alloy wheels. Moving on, he shows the rear end of the SUV and mentions that it comes equipped with LED taillights, with a similar connected light bar in the middle as the front. It also gets four rear parking sensors.
The host then shows the interior of the SUV and highlights that it feels very premium. It features leather on the dashboard, soft-touch plastics, and fabric upholstery. The VF6 base variant also comes with a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which includes all the controls for the air conditioning. The only physical buttons on the dashboard are for drive mode selection.
Powering the VF6 base Earth variant is a single electric motor positioned on the front axle. It generates 174 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. As for the battery pack, it comes with a 59.6 kWh unit, which provides a claimed range of 468 km. The real-world range is around 399 km.
Vinfast, in order to lure new buyers, is offering the VF6 and the VF7 with free charging until July 2028. The maintenance of these vehicles will also be free until 2028. Lastly, the company is offering a 7-year warranty on its vehicles.
The Vinfast VF6, as mentioned, has been launched with an aggressive pricing strategy. It takes on various rivals in the country, including the Tata Nexon EV, MG Windsor EV, and Mahindra BE 6. The Tata Nexon EV, for the same price, offers a 45 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 489 km; however, the real-world range is much less.
Next is the MG Windsor EV, which comes with a 59.2 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 449 km on a single full charge. Lastly, the Mahindra BE 6, with its 59 kWh battery pack variant, also competes with the VF6. The Mahindra EV SUV offers the highest claimed range of 556 km. It is also the most powerful, producing 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.
Other rivals of the Vinfast VF6 include the Hyundai Creta Electric, Kia Clavis EV, and the Tata Nexon EV. All of these are more expensive than the VF6.
