This year at the Bharat Mobility Expo, we saw a new brand showcase their electric vehicles to the public. It was the Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast, and it was clear that the brand had interest in the Indian market, which holds a lot of potential as a growing market. As we all know, VinFast is planning to set up their manufacturing facility in India, and their two new models are likely to be launched in the market later this year. One of them is the VinFast VF7, and the same electric SUV has been spotted in India before its official launch.

The images have been shared by Autocar on their website. The VinFast VF7 was spotted at Mumbai airport on a flatbed. The car was finished in a premium shade of black.

When compared to the VF7 showcased at the Auto Expo this year, the recently spotted one has minor differences. The car is now sitting on 19-inch wheels, and the alloy wheel design is also different from the one we have seen before.

The 20-inch wheels seen on the VF7 at the expo are not suitable for Indian conditions, as they would affect the ride quality. The VF7 is a compact SUV which measures 4,545 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height.

The front fascia of the VF7 gets a very different design with LED DRLs that form a V-shaped pattern at the center of the bonnet. VinFast’s logo can also be seen here. The SUV gets a split headlamp setup, and there are front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera too. We can also see a camera sensor for ADAS on the windscreen of the SUV.

The interior of the car is not visible in the picture, but we get a glimpse of the edge of the floating-type touchscreen infotainment system that the VF7 would come with. There is gloss black cladding around the wheel arches, and we also see a turn indicator integrated into it.

From the images that are available online, we know that the VF7 will come with a boxy design, sharp character lines, flush-type door handles, and a sharp-looking rear with an LED connecting bar. Below the tail lamp, there is a vertical air-curtain-like design. The rear bumper also gets gloss black inserts.

The VinFast VF7 is powered by a 75.3 kWh battery pack. It is available in both single and dual-motor options. The single-motor variant generates 201 Bhp and 310 Nm of torque, while the dual-motor or AWD variant generates 349 Bhp and 500 Nm of torque. The range of the VF7 is 450 km for the single-motor variant and 431 km for the dual-motor version.

The company plans to officially launch these EVs in the Indian market by the festive season this year. VinFast is currently working on their manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This is expected to start its operations very soon.

VinFast will be launching the VF7 and VF6 (a smaller SUV) in the Indian market first, and after this, they might consider expanding their portfolio and could come up with more affordable models like the VF3 and VF5. The manufacturing facility is likely to be used as an export facility by VinFast in the future.
