Volkswagen recently announced that they’ll be bringing in two new models to Indian market. Apart from bringing in new models like the Golf GTI and Tiguan R Line, Volkswagen also has plans to update the existing models. Currently Volkswagen’s Indian line up consists of models like Virtus, Taigun and Tiguan. Volkswagen is now offering attractive discounts of up to Rs 2.5 lakh on their Taigun and Virtus models.

Volkswagen Virtus

The Virtus is a mid-size sedan which is now the entry level model from Volkswagen in India. Volkswagen is currently offering attractive discounts on the Virtus. The Highline 1.0 TSI automatic variant of the sedan attracts the benefits worth Rs 1.90 lakh.

On the other hand, the higher spec Topline version of this sedan comes with a discount of Rs 1.87 lakh. The 1.0 TSI GT Line automatic variant is available with a discount of Rs 83,000.

The 1.5 litre TSI GT Plus Chrome variant gets a discount of Rs 1.29 lakh and the GT Plus Sport variant attracts a discount worth Rs 1.35 lakh.The entry level Comfortline is being offered with a discount of Rs 1.22 lakh.

Volkswagen Taigun

Coming to the Taigun, which is a mid-size SUV, Volskwagen is offering discounts of up to Rs 2.5 lakh on the Highline 1.0 TSI AT variant. The Topline 1.0 TSI manual variant is offered with a discount of up to Rs 2.36 lakh. Coming to the 1.5 TSI GT Plus Chrome variant, the discount is Rs 2.39 lakh. Other than this, the 1.5 TSI GT Plus Sport variant will get benefits of up Rs 2 lakh. The Taigun GT Line 1.0 TSI automatic variant gets discounts worth Rs 1.45 lakh.

If you are a Volkswagen Polo owner, the brand is offering a loyalty benefit of Rs 50,000 to those who are looking to upgrade from Polo to either Virtus or Taigun in exchange of their old vehicle. Similarly benefits worth Rs 20,000 is also applicable as part of scrappage benefits.

Engine & Transmission

Both Volkswagen Virtus and Taigun are based on the same MQB A0 IN platform and they are both offered with similar set of features, engine and gearbox options. There is a 1.0 litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5 litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque.

The 1.0 TSI engine option is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission option. The 1.5 litre TSI engine option comes with a 7-speed DSG and a 6-speed manual transmission option.

Price for Volkswagen Virtus starts at Rs 11.56 lakh, ex-showroom and goes all the way till Rs 19.40 lakh, ex-showroom before discounts. The Taigun prices start at Rs 11.70 lakh, ex-showroom and goes all the way till Rs 19.74 lakh, ex-showroom before discounts. Both these vehicles have been in the market for a few years and the manufacturer is likely to launch an updated or facelifted version of Virtus and Taigun later this year.
