Volkswagen Polo GTI Launching This Month: Key Details Out

Indian automotive enthusiasts, especially Volkswagen aficionados, have been asking the German automotive giant to bring the legendary Golf GTI hatchback to India. However, after ignoring the pleas for so many years, Volkswagen India has finally decided to bring in the all-new 2025 Golf GTI to India. What’s even more exciting is that this iconic hatchback will be launched in the country before the end of this month.
Volkswagen will be officially debuting the new 2025 Golf GTI hot hatch at the Generation Speed Motoring Festival, which will be held on February 22-23, 2025, at Aamby Valley. As per reports, a handful of dealerships across the country have even started taking unofficial reservations for the upcoming Golf GTI.
Now, coming to the part that could upset a lot of Golf GTI enthusiasts. This hot hatch will be brought in via the CBU (completely built unit) route, which, in turn, will make this hatchback super expensive. How expensive, you may ask? Well, it is expected that Volkswagen will be pricing the new Golf GTI at Rs 52 lakh.
However, it has to be noted that this super high price tag gets you entry into a club that is limited to only 250 owners. Volkswagen is reportedly only bringing 250 units of the Golf GTI to India. This will make the Golf GTI a very rare hatchback in India.
The current generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI comes equipped with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which is known by its internal name, EA888. This performance-oriented motor is capable of generating a whopping 265 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque. Also, to provide this hot hatch with lightning-fast shifts, Volkswagen has paired the Golf GTI’s engine with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
All of the power will be sent to the front wheels, and it will be able to do a sprint of 0-100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds. Also, the top speed of the Volkswagen Golf GTI has been electronically limited to 250 kmph. This hot hatch will also come with progressive steering with variable gearing, an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock, and optional adaptive suspension.
On the outside, the current generation of the Golf GTI has grown a lot in size. At the front, it gets a set of very sleek and beautiful-looking LED headlights and a single-slat grille with a GTI badge on one side. The front bumper also looks very aggressive and gets a unique five-light fog lamp setup, which has not been seen on any other generation of the Golf GTI.
Moving on to the side profile, it gets four doors, 18-inch alloy wheels, and smooth body lines. As for the rear design, it gets a set of aggressive-looking LED taillights and an equally aggressive rear bumper with a diffuser and dual-exit exhaust ports. It also gets an integrated rear spoiler as well.
As for the interior side of things, the new Golf GTI comes with a simple dashboard with a massive 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a voice assistant with ChatGPT integration. It also gets GTI-specific graphics on the digital instrument gauge cluster, a red pulsing push-button start, and Tartan seat upholstery along with a GTI steering wheel.
