Volkswagen Delivers 106 Cars in Single Day, Launches Flash Red Virtus, Taigun Colours in Kerala

Volkswagen India marked the start of Chingam, the first month in the Malayalam calendar, by handing over 106 cars in a single day across Kerala. The event coincided with the Onam festival period, a time traditionally associated with higher vehicle purchases in the state.
Alongside this milestone, the company introduced a new Flash Red colour option for the Virtus sedan and the Taigun SUV. Importantly, the colour is currently offered only in Kerala and only on the GT Line variants of both models.
Festive buying has long been an important driver of automotive sales in Kerala, with Onam serving as a particularly strong season. By aligning deliveries and the introduction of a new colour option with this period, Volkswagen has attempted to maximise visibility and capitalise on market demand at the right time.
The Flash Red option is available only on the GT Line trims, which already feature black-themed styling touches aimed at younger and style-focused buyers. The bold red finish complements the black elements, making the cars stand out more distinctly in traffic.
Both the Virtus and Taigun in GT Line form come with a 25.65 cm VW Play touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, as well as a 20.32 cm digital cockpit. The feature set also includes six airbags, Hill Start Assist, and climate control via Volkswagen’s Smart Touch Climatronic system. These elements are positioned to appeal to buyers who want modern connectivity, safety, and comfort features in one package.
The exterior package is further enhanced with 17-inch Cassino black alloy wheels, which create a visual contrast with the red paint while reinforcing the sporty positioning of the GT Line trims.
Volkswagen has identified Kerala as a key market in its India strategy. The company has reported that the Virtus currently holds a 49 percent share of the premium sedan segment in the state, making it the highest-selling model in that category. This indicates strong acceptance of the brand’s sedan offering in a market that values driving dynamics, safety, and European build quality.
The new colour introduction adds another layer of customisation for buyers who may already have been considering these cars. Restricting Flash Red to Kerala gives the region’s customers a sense of exclusivity while also allowing Volkswagen to test demand before deciding on a broader rollout.
By achieving 106 deliveries in one day, Volkswagen’s Kerala dealer network had to coordinate logistics and communication across multiple locations. The scale of the operation highlights the preparation that went into ensuring customers received their cars on the same day, a factor that matters in festival season buying when buyers often prefer delivery on auspicious dates.
Kerala has historically been a strong base for European brands, and Volkswagen’s strategy builds on this preference. Buyers in the state are known to look beyond only pricing, with factors like safety equipment, driving quality, and styling carrying weight in purchase decisions. The performance of the Virtus in the sedan category shows how effectively Volkswagen has positioned its product in this environment.
