Volkswagen Unveils Tiguan R-Line Flagship SUV Before Official Launch
Volkswagen announced the launch of their flagship SUV Tiguan R-Line in the Indian market this month. The manufacturer is currently preparing to launch the flagship SUV in coming months.
Exterior
The Tiguan R-Line gets a completely new design language. In fact, it is different from the Tiguan that was available in the Indian market. the front of the SUV features a bold and powerful look with LED DRLs, headlights and a glass-covered horizontal strip. The horizontal strip features R-Line branding in it. There is a connecting LED bar that runs across the width of the SUV.
There is a large radiator grille on the lower part of the bumper with air curtains ensuring optimum air flow. The SUV looks sporty and muscular from the front. Coming to the side profile, we see round wheel arches, R-Line inspired 19 inch alloy wheels. The side profile of the SUV looks similar to the regular Tiguan.
As we move to the rear, you start noticing the smoked clear glass LED tail lamps with connecting LED bar across the width of the vehicle. The Tiguan branding is seen on the lower part of the tailgate with a muscular looking bumper with black and chrome inserts.
Interior
Volkswagen has also shared information of the interior and the Tiguan R-Line comes with premium aesthetics that have been seamlessly designed to evoke a plush and futuristic appeal. Volkswagen claims that this is Inspired by a completely new concept, the design stands out with its high quality of material application and craftsmanship.
We see fully digital instrument cluster that Volkswagen likes to call the cockpit. We have gloss black dashbaord with R line branding on it. Similarly the flat bottom steering also gets a branding. The seats also get R Line branding on them.
The premium looking cabin of the car comes with features like 30 colours ambient lights, panoramic sunroof, illuminated door handle recesses, pedals in brushed stainless steel, surround lighting with welcome light, bumpers in sports style, air-intake with chrome trim, silver-anodized roof rails and much more.
Apart from these features, Volkswagen is also offering segment leading features like seat with massage function and adjustable lumbar support. It also comes with features like Air Care, 3-zone climate control, Park Assist Plus, with Park Distance Control and Inductive Charging for 2 Smart Phones and many more.
Engine
The Upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line will be the most powerful SUV in Volkswagen’s India lineup. It will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine. This 4-cylinder engine generates 204 PS and 320 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission, and power is sent to all four wheels using Volkswagen’s 4MOTION AWD system. The Tiguan R-Line has a top speed of 229 kmph and can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 7.1 seconds.
As mentioned above, this is going to be the flagship product from Volkswagen in India. It is expected to be priced around Rs 50 lakh, ex-showroom. It should be noted that Volkswagen has removed the regular Tiguan from their website. After the launch of Tiguan R-Line, Volkswagen will be launching the hot hatchback Golf GTI in the market and even that is going to be an expensive car.
