Two New SUVs From Skoda And Volkswagen Launching This Month: Dates Revealed

April is going to be exciting. Volkswagen Group will launch two much-awaited SUVs in India under the VW and Skoda brands- the Tiguan R-Line and the new Kodiaq. Volkswagen has been actively teasing and revealing details of the R Line ahead of its April 14 launch, while Skoda had already displayed the new Kodiaq at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. Let's take a deep dive into the details of these SUVs.
The R-Line is an iteration of the Tiguan that features more technology, a better cabin experience, and better styling. It gets connected LED headlights, a large air dam, 19-inch ‘Coventry’ alloy wheels, signature R-line bits like creases near fenders and an LED light bar at the rear.
The equipment list of the R Line will have major improvements in it. It will feature the likes of tri-zone climate control, wireless charging for up to two phones, 30-colour ambient lighting, illuminated door handle recesses, brushed stainless steel pedals, a 10.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system (the largest in its segment), a panoramic sunroof, and more.
The front row will have sports seats with R Line branding and a massage function. These will also offer adjustable lumbar support. The vehicle will also come with Volkswagen's Park Assist Plus with Park Distance Control. This will allow the vehicle to auto-park in tricky scenarios.
The R-Line will house an uptuned version of the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine under its hood. It will produce 204 hp and 320 Nm. There will be All Wheel Drive (AWD) and transmission duties will be carried out by a 7-speed dual-clutch unit. 0-100 kph will be done in 7.1 seconds and the top speed will be 229 kph.
The safety suit will have the likes of 9 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite with 21 functions, hill start assist, hill descent control, etc. The vehicle has already scored a 5-star NCAP crash safety rating.
Launch Date: April 14, 2025
Skoda will launch the second-generation Kodiaq in India this month. The SUV was teased recently, hinting at an imminent market launch. It will be assembled at the Skoda factory in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
The new generation Kodiaq will have major design similarities to the first-generation SUV. It will have matrix projector headlamps and LED DRLs, full-width LED strip, new tail lamps with connected light bar, and refreshed grille and body lines. There is also a 4x4 badge.
Inside, the new Kodiaq will have leatherette upholstery, dual digital displays with a floating centre touchscreen, refreshed air-con panel, three-zone air conditioning, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. The steering wheel makes a transition to a two-spoke design, like many modern Skoda models. The SUV will have a three-row seating layout.
The global-spec Kodiaq has several powertrain choice. The India-spec will have the same 2.0-litre, TSI petrol engine as the Tiguan. It will be able to generate 188 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. There will be 4x4 system on offer and the transmission will be a 7-speed DSG unit.
