Volvo EX30 Launched in India - Most Affordable Volvo EV SUV

Volvo has launched its most affordable electric SUV in India, the EX30, at an ex-showroom price of ₹41 lakh. The new model is designed to bring more buyers into the luxury EV space by offering a compact, lower-priced option compared to the brand’s other electric SUVs.
At 4,233mm long, 1,837mm wide and 1,549mm tall, the EX30 is smaller than the EX40 and EC40 in Volvo’s line-up. Despite its compact size, it retains the brand’s familiar design features including Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, a closed front grille and C-shaped tail lamps. Built on Geely’s SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform, the EX30 comes to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and is assembled locally to control costs.
The EX30 directly targets rivals such as the BMW iX1 LWB (₹49.90 lakh), Hyundai Ioniq 5 (₹46.30 lakh) and BYD Sealion 7 (₹48.90–54.90 lakh). By undercutting these models, Volvo is positioning the EX30 as the entry point into its electric portfolio.
The SUV is powered by a single rear-mounted motor producing 272PS and 343Nm. Paired with a 69kWh NMC battery, the EX30 can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 5.3 seconds. On a full charge, it delivers a WLTP-rated range of 480km.
Charging speeds are competitive: the SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 153kW, topping up the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 26.5 minutes under ideal conditions. Battery preconditioning further improves charging times by bringing the pack to an optimal temperature when navigating to a charger. Home charging via a wallbox is also supported, delivering faster replenishment than a regular domestic socket.
Inside, the EX30 uses a minimalist design dominated by a 12.3-inch vertical touchscreen. All functions, from climate to navigation, are integrated into this unit, which also supports wireless Apple CarPlay, built-in Google apps and over-the-air updates. Android Auto is not offered.
The cabin gets a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with a dashboard-mounted soundbar and subwoofer. Sustainability is built into the interior with recycled aluminium and textiles forming part of the trim. Customers can choose from five exterior colours — Cloud Blue, Crystal White, Vapour Grey, Onyx Black and Sand Dune — each paired with a gloss black roof.
On safety, the SUV holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating. Standard equipment includes seven airbags, among them a centre airbag between the front seats. Driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detection, front and rear cross-traffic alert with auto braking, and pedestrian and cyclist collision avoidance.
The EX30 arrives in India in a single, fully loaded variant, unlike global markets where multiple trims are offered. Bookings opened on 20 August 2025, and deliveries will begin in October.
With its ₹41 lakh price tag, the EX30 undercuts most premium electric SUVs while offering a full set of features and strong performance. Volvo is betting that this approach will appeal to buyers who want a luxury badge, long driving range and advanced safety at a relatively lower entry price.
