For those who may not be aware, Wings EV Robin is not just another electric vehicle. This is a very unique electric microcar that combines the maneuverability of a motorbike with the comfort of a compact car. The Robin will become available in three variants. The first will be the base variant, which will be priced at Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom).

This particular model will offer a range of 65 km and comes without air conditioning. Next up will be the mid variant, which will be priced at Rs 2.5 lakh. In this variant, the company has added a fan system and offers an extended range of 90 km. Lastly, there will be the top-end variant, priced at Rs 3 lakh. This model will include air conditioning and patented audio alert systems. It will also get the same 90 km range as the mid variant.

One of the standout features of the Robin is its drive-by-wire powertrain. This technology has been borrowed from advanced aviation systems like fighter jets and Formula 1 cars. This system replaces the traditional mechanical linkages with electronic controls, allowing for more precise handling and improved vehicle stability.

In terms of the powertrain, this unique electric car comes equipped with two BLDC hub motors. Both offer a combined maximum torque of 282 Nm. Also powering the Robin is a 5.6 KWh LFP battery pack, known as Wings PowerSlab. This battery is the world’s thinnest automotive battery pack, measuring just 69mm in height.

According to the company, it has been designed specifically for the Indian climate. It will offer better thermal stability compared to traditional NMC batteries. Wings EV has also revealed that this innovative battery technology is integrated into the vehicle’s skateboard chassis. This lowers the center of gravity and provides a well-balanced ride with a front-to-rear axle weight distribution of 47/53.
