Accidents happen on the road every day, and the major reason behind such accidents is carelessness. In India, hundreds of accidents occur every day. While some of them are reported to authorities, most of them go unreported. We have featured several videos on our website in the past that show how a minor distraction could cause a major accident. A few days ago, we came across a video of a Mahindra Thar that climbed up an electric pole after a crash. How did that happen? We now have CCTV footage showing the same incident.

Watch on YouTube

The video has been shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger starts by talking about the importance of slowing down at intersections. He shows a couple of old videos that demonstrate how dangerous it can be if you don’t slow down. The Mahindra Thar accident, which is the highlight of this video, happened in Haryana’s Gurugram.

The Mahindra Thar, driven by a woman, was crossing an intersection when a Honda Amaze sedan coming from the left-hand side hit near the rear wheels. From the video, it looks like neither the Honda Amaze nor the Mahindra Thar was speeding. The SUV was slowly crossing the road.

The Honda Amaze driver also spotted the SUV and applied the brakes. However, it looks like there was some confusion, and the Amaze driver could not stop the car in time. We can hear the woman driver saying to the media that she turned to fill fuel from a nearby pump, and that is when the accident happened.

It looked like a normal accident. However, after the crash, the video claims that the woman panicked and lost control of the vehicle. In a bid to stop the vehicle, she probably pressed the accelerator instead of the brakes, making things worse. The SUV crashed into a nearby pole and climbed up.

The SUV was parked almost vertically. The woman driver mentioned that she turned the car away from the road to ensure that no one else got hurt. With help from locals, she managed to jump out of the SUV and was unhurt. The side of the Mahindra Thar where the Amaze crashed is a bit damaged. Similarly, we expect that the front of the SUV also got damaged in the crash.

As for the Amaze driver, the sedan fled the spot after the crash. After seeing the Mahindra Thar climbing up an electric pole, the sedan driver probably panicked and escaped from the spot. Both cars were not severely damaged and were in drivable condition.

What the Amaze driver did in this case is not the right thing. The sedan driver should have ideally stopped, checked if the Mahindra Thar driver was fine, reported the accident, and shared his details before leaving. He should also have called an ambulance if the occupants in the car were injured. Not doing so is actually a punishable offense.

In this case, both the Mahindra Thar and Amaze drivers can be blamed. Both of them should have been a lot more careful and patient. The Amaze driver should have slowed down or stopped, and the Thar driver should have ideally stopped and looked for oncoming traffic, proceeding only when there was a clear window.
