CEO Aadit Palicha Reveals What Zepto Will Do With Skoda Kylaq

Yesterday, Skoda India and the quick commerce delivery platform Zepto shared a teaser. In this teaser, a Zepto delivery agent was seen picking up a Skoda Kylaq from a Skoda dealership and taking it to a customer using a flatbed trailer. It was then assumed that Zepto and Skoda could be partnering up to sell cars to customers in 10 minutes. However, clearing up these speculations, Zepto Co-founder and CEO Aditya Palicha and Skoda India have revealed what exactly is going on. It has been stated that they will only be offering test drives through this collaboration.

Recently, Aditya Palicha shared a post on LinkedIn. In his post, he highlighted that Zepto is not selling and delivering cars in 10 minutes. He added that the company has noticed the headlines which stated, “Zepto and Skoda are delivering cars in under 10 minutes.”
However, clearing things up, he added that, as tempting as it may sound, no, customers will not be ordering a Skoda Kylaq from Zepto to get it delivered to their doorsteps. Rather, they will be getting a test drive of the newly launched Skoda Kylaq using Zepto. He, however, also added that this is the situation as of now and “Who knows what the future holds?”
Commenting on the same post, Skoda India also responded to Aditya Palicha’s LinkedIn post and highlighted that the two companies will only be helping customers get test drives of the new Kylaq sub-compact SUV.
Skoda India stated, “Now that the cat is out of the bag, we’re thrilled to partner with Zepto and bring Kylaq to your doorstep for a test drive in the fastest, most convenient way possible. We’re just getting started. Škoda X Zepto.”
As mentioned above, yesterday, both companies shared a video on their social media platforms. In this video, a Zepto delivery agent arrives at a Skoda India dealership and shows his mobile phone. He then tells the manager that he has an order pickup from this location.
Following this, he is taken outside by the manager, who gives him a flatbed trailer with a Skoda Kylaq in the rear. After this, the delivery agent takes the truck along with the Skoda Kylaq, covered with a Zepto cover.
Skoda India and Zepto have already managed to pull in a lot of attention with the teaser shared on their social media platforms. And now, after clearing things up on LinkedIn, it seems like they are on track to have a good marketing campaign for both the newly launched Skoda Kylaq and the quick commerce platform Zepto.
However, whether customers actually end up ordering the Kylaq for test drives via the Zepto app remains to be seen in the near future. As stated before, Skoda India and Zepto will be sharing additional details on this collaboration on February 8.
The Skoda Kylaq, which is the newest entrant in the sub-compact SUV segment, has already become a hit. Back in December of last year, it was reported that Skoda had stopped taking reservations for the base Classic variant of the Kylaq. It was revealed that the company received over 10,000 bookings in just 10 days after the bookings commenced on December 2nd.
Skoda is offering the Kylaq with a starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh, and it goes all the way up to Rs 14.4 lakh. It is available in four variants, namely Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige. Powering the new Kylaq is a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine that makes 115 bhp and 178 Nm of torque. It is offered with both a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
