"The Carens offers impressive performance for an MPV, particularly with the 1.4L turbo petrol engine. Refinement and NVH levels are exceptional, making it one of the quietest in the segment. The engine is more than adequate for family duties while keeping enthusiasts interested. The DCT gearbox is smooth and intuitive, though concerns exist about longevity with full loads. The 1.5 petrol is adequate but lacks the mid-range punch of turbocharged siblings. Overall performance is well-suited to the MPV's family-focused mission."

Safety
Average

"The Carens offers adequate safety for the MUV segment with 6 airbags, ESP, and all-wheel disc brakes as standard - a welcome move. However, the 3-star GNCAP rating is disappointing and below expectations. The car handles emergency maneuvers well with good electronic stability control. Braking performance is satisfactory. The lack of advanced ADAS features and 360-degree camera is notable compared to competitors. Overall safety is adequate for commercial passenger transport but falls short of premium standards."

"The Carens impresses with its premium interior quality and excellent fit-finish. Materials used are of high quality with soft-touch surfaces at key touchpoints. The dashboard and center console look and feel premium with attention to detail. Build quality is very good for the mass-market segment, with some elements feeling like they belong in a segment above. Hard plastics are present but strategically placed away from frequent contact areas. Overall quality execution is strong and suitable for intensive family use."

"The Carens features fresh styling that differentiates it well from the Seltos, unlike the Alcazar-Creta relationship. The exterior design is handsome with attractive details like the unique front end without a large grille, smart LED lighting elements, and clean lines. The interior design is particularly impressive with a unique navy blue and beige color scheme, well-executed dashboard layout, and premium feel. The design successfully balances MPV practicality with modern aesthetics, though the small 16-inch wheels make it look slightly odd. Overall design execution is strong and will appeal to a larger audience."

Space
Good
8.0
"The Carens excels in space utilization, particularly for the third row which is genuinely usable for adults - a standout feature. The long wheelbase (2,780mm) and overall length (4,540mm) provide excellent interior space. Front row space is generous with good visibility and comfort. Second row space is adequate but compromised to accommodate the excellent third row - a deliberate trade-off. Storage solutions are excellent throughout the cabin with multiple cubbies, cupholders, and charging points. Boot space is reasonable at 216 litres with all seats up, expanding significantly when rows are folded. Access to third row is exceptionally easy with one-touch electric tumble mechanism. Overall space efficiency is excellent for a 6/7-seater MPV."

Infotainment
Average
6.5
"The Carens offers adequate infotainment features for the segment with a 10.25-inch touchscreen that operates smoothly. The system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but only via wired connection, which is disappointing given the wireless charging pad. The user interface has an ergonomic flaw with the upward tilt making the top harder to reach while driving. Audio quality from the Bose 8-speaker system is average at best, falling short of expectations. Connectivity is a strong point with multiple USB-C ports throughout all three rows ensuring all passengers can charge devices. The system includes connected car features via Kia Connect. Overall infotainment package is adequate for basic commercial communication and entertainment needs."
