Mahindra launched the much awaited 9-seater version of the TUV300 recently. It’s called the TUV300 Plus and thanks to its additional length by 405mm, the Plus seats two more passengers. This will eventually replace the Xylo as well and will serve as a good family MPV for those looking at an option in the Rs 9-12 lakh bracket. Let’s have a deeper look into this new offering but before we do, here is the official video: have a look –

The TUV300 Plus is available in three versions at the following prices:

Mahindra TUV300 Plus P4: Rs 9,59,001

Mahindra TUV300 Plus P6: Rs 9,95,000

Mahindra TUV300 Plus P8: Rs 10,98,600

All prices being ex-showroom Delhi

The TUV300 Plus gets the same wheelbase and width as the shorter sub-4m TUV300.

The front of the TUV300 Plus is identical save for the different chrome treatment for the fog lamp surround.

The Plus gets larger 16-inch wheels but the width (215mm) remains the same.

Trade mark grille remains and gives the TUV its character.

The TUV gets a 2+3+4 seating layout as seen in the image below. Will be a hit with fleet operators.

Cabin design remains the same as the normal TUV – no changes in this regard. Quality is excellent.

Steering controls offered on top-end P8 only.

Dual airbags standard on P6 and P8 versions. P4 does not get airbags or even ABS.

Storage space under driver’s seat available on the P8 version.

Driver’s seat height is adjustable only in the top-end P8 version. P8 also gets a 17.8cm touchscreen system with navigation and reverse assist.

ESS stands for Engine Start/Stop System. These controls are on the right side of the steering wheel.

All versions (P4, P6, P8) get manual air-conditioning only. No climate control option.

The display also gets driver information like distance to empty.

Dedicated 12v charging outlet, USB port and AUX-In support.

The TUV300 Plus gets a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. No AMT / AT as of now.

Faux leather seats on top-end P8 trim only.

Another view of the seating layout and cabin colors.

Mahindra claims the TUV300 Plus comes with ‘cushion’ suspension technology.

The TUV300 Plus gets a 2.2-litre Diesel engine that puts out 120 bhp of power and 280 Nm of torque – great figures.

Key fob of the top-end P8 trim. No smart entry access for the TUV300 Plus.

The TUV300 Plus makes use of a new generation Scorpio-derived chassis to absorb shocks. The chassis also gets hydro-formed crush tips for heavy impact.

The TUV300 Plus is a clever move by Mahindra. It will cater to fleet operators as well as those for whom the Toyota Crysta is a very expensive proposition. The P8 retails at less than Rs. 11 lakh (ex-showroom) and makes for a good buy for large families.
