Best Used Petrol Car for Less Than Rs. 2 lakh in Mumbai, Selected by CarToq TRUE PRICE

You would love to own a car. But you have told yourself that you would not get anything within your budget of Rs 2 lakh. Or maybe you need a second car but don’t want to spend as much as a new one costs. And diesel no longer makes sense to you because of the minimal price difference with petrol. The right used car can tick all your boxes. But finding it is not easy. Search any of the major used car sites and you are likely to end up with thousands of options in Mumbai alone. The prices will range from a few thousands to several lakhs. How do you choose one in this maze of model names and numbers? Should you even consider the cheaper ones when a similar car is being sold for much more?
The Cartoq TRUE PRICE is here to end your confusion. It will identify for you the best deals on offer on these sites. The Cartoq Data Science team has built a Machine Learning model that estimates the TRUE PRICE of a used car, after accounting for all sorts of variables — brand, model, age, mileage, car type.

With all relevant factors accounted for, it predicts the TRUE PRICE, which then becomes the basis of comparison among cars of different types. The best deals are those where the listed price is lower than the TRUE PRICE. So we scan through the listings in major used car sites, compute their TRUE PRICE, and identify the best used car deal for you.
The shortlist for this article is based on the analysis we ran on June 14, 2019, so by the time you read this article, some of the cars may no longer be available.
But the list still provides useful pointers, even if these specific cars are no longer available.
• There are lots of good deals below Rs 2 lakh.
• And not just on one make of car. Your choice spans Ford, Maruti and Hyundai.
Without wasting any more time, let’s check out our recommended cars for you.
Year: 2012 / Mileage: 73,000 km / List Price: Rs 1,75,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs 4,47,000
Why buy: This grey car is well within your budget despite being a premium hatchback and clocking only a little more than 10,000 km a year. The car has also not changed hands. The feature-rich and spacious Figo is one of Ford’s most successful models in India. Its maintenance cost is also among the lowest. This particular model will come with RC, insurance and service logs copies and additional warranty.

Year: 2013 / Mileage: 58,000 km/ List Price: Rs 1,75,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs 3,71,418
Why buy: This comes at the same list price as the top option but has been driven 15,000 km less by the first owner. The white car is also a year younger. The Alto is India’s most popular car and there are sound reasons for that. It is an excellent daily driver with excellent mileage and low maintenance cost. Consider this seriously if you are going to be using your car extensively. You will get a copy of the RC with the car.
Year: 2011 / Mileage: 7,289 / List Price: Rs 1,75,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs 4,35,000
Why buy: The list price remains unchanged for the third model too. The i10 is a step-up offering over basic hatchbacks and with only about 7,000 km on the odometer, this one has hardly been used by the owner. The Hyundai after-sales network is an added advantage. The colour of the model is silver and a copy of the RC is available.
Year: 2014 / Mileage: 37,119 km / List Price: Rs 1,60,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs 3,32,951
Why buy: The second Hyundai on the list has also not been used much. This blue car is the newest model among the recommended options and comes for Rs 15,000 less than the top three. An RC copy is included in the deal.
Year: 2013 / Mileage: 31,450 km / List Price: Rs 1,65,000 / Ex Showroom Price: Rs 3,20,948
Why buy: The last recommendation is an Alto 800 with the second lowest odometer reading and price. The silver car has not changed hands. Like the Alto K10 recommended above, it offers all the advantages of a Maruti. The RC copy is included.
For less than Rs 2 lakh, you can get in Mumbai cars from India’s two most popular brands. But the top recommendation is a premium hatchback from Ford, which is known for making robust vehicles. With no repeats in the five recommended models, you are spoilt for choice.
