Book Mahindra Scorpio BS6 before the official launch: Price revealed

Mahindra will soon officially launch the BS6 compliant Scorpio in the Indian market. Before that, the manufacturer has started accepting the bookings online through the official website. Mahindra has not revealed the exact date of the launch of the new Scorpio BS6 but they have mentioned that the booking amount if Rs 25,000. The launch is expected to happen as soon as the nation-wide lockdown due to the COVID-19 comes to an end in India.

According to ZigWheels, the new Scorpio BS6 will be offered in a fewer number of variants. Even the 4X4 variants of the SUV will not be available in the market anymore. Instead of the S3 variant, the Scorpio S5 will be the new base variant. While the price of the base variant is not known, the higher-end variants like the S7 will be priced at Rs 14.29 lakhs, the S9 variant will be priced at Rs 15.02 lakhs while the S11 variant will carry a price tag of Rs 16.18 lakhs. All the BS6 variants carry a premium of Rs 60,000 compared their BS4 counterparts. So the base S5 BS6 variant can start at Rs 12.97 lakhs!

The SUV will continue to get powered by the same 2.2-litre diesel engine option that used to be available with the BS4 version of the car. The engine has been updated to meet the new emission norms. The engine will be available in a single tune of power and the lower 120 PS tune will not be available anymore. All the variants of the BS6 compliant Mahindra Scorpio will get powered by the 140 PS – 320 Nm engine.

The power will travel to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Mahindra will also not offer any automatic transmission option with the BS6 compliant variant. It should be noted that the all-new Mahindra Scorpio will be launched in the Indian market in the coming time and Mahindra is expected to re-introduce the 4X4 and the automatic features with the new car.

With the new price, the Mahindra Scorpio will take on the likes of Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. Even though there are no direct rivals of the car in the segment, it will be interesting to see how the good old Scorpio will do against the new-generation vehicles in the market.

Mahindra will soon do a complete model change of the Scorpio and the test models have been caught testing on the road already. The all-new Scorpio will be based on a new platform and will get powered by a new engine.
