Mercedes-Benz is known for its luxury cars and sports cars. They are not the top-selling the Indian market as most of us cannot afford them. However, recently there has been increasing demand for such luxury cars. One of the reasons that you can buy a nice example for affordable money. There are luxury cars that are being sold under 10 lakhs also. One of the reasons that you can get pre-owned luxury cars for such a low price is the bad resale value.

Here, we have a Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 which is selling for Jeep Compass money. When we consider that the SLK 350 is a roadster which means the hardtop is convertible, it seems like a good value for money as it costs just Rs. 18 lakhs. The post has been uploaded on a Facebook page. The two-seater roadster here is a December 2005 model and from the pictures, we can see that there are no evident scratches or dents on the bodywork. The vehicle has already covered its 15 years, but the fitness certificate is valid till 2025. So, there are still 5 years before the buyer would need to perform the renewal of fitness certificate. Also, the SLK 350 has covered just 18,000 km and is registered in Himachal Pradesh.

Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine. The V6 engine is capable of producing 268 bhp of max power and a peak torque output of 350 Nm. It is mated to an automatic transmission for the convenience of driving in cities. It gets a Harman Kardon premium speaker system, alloy wheels, projector headlamps, dual exhaust tips, turn indicators on outside rearview mirrors, infotainment system and much more. The vehicle has been kept in very good condition and it does come with two keys. All the four tyres are new and the spare tyre has not been used. According to the post, the convertible hardtop still works like it was new, and there are no squeaks or rattles when you drive the vehicle. This is impressive for a car that is almost 15 years old.

The SLK 350 here is finished in silver and is a coupe. A price of 18 lakhs looks very appealing for a V6 coupe that can be driven with the roof down and you can enjoy the open-top experience. It is a proper sports car in the sense that it delivers performance with impressive styling. It surely is a head-turner. But you would have to be cautious with these types of purchases.

There are certain cons to buying a vehicle that is already 15 years old and has been discontinued. These types of vehicles are expensive to maintain and with a V6, it will not deliver good fuel efficiency. Also, finding spare parts will be difficult as the SLK 350 is now discontinued in India. Not every mechanic will be able to fix your vehicle if it ever gets a breakdown. You will have to call for roadside assistance or the vehicle would have to be towed away till the nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership. As we can see that this SLK 350 does not offer the latest features and equipment. So you will have to compromise on some luxury features. However, the driving experience that cars like these deliver is no match to what you can get in this price segment.
