Nearly-new MG Hector turbo petrol twin clutch automatic SUV: More than a lakh cheaper than new

The MG Hector is one of India’s highest demand SUVs currently, with waiting periods spanning many months in case of most variants. The MG Hector has also been a top seller in its segment, with nearly 2,000 units being delivered on an average. High sales in the new car segment means that a fair number of examples reach the used car market. Here’s a used MG Hector SUV that’s hit the used car market in India’s IT capital: Bangalore. With just 4,900 Kms on the odometer, this Hector is almost-new, with the factory warranty remaining nearly intact. This makes it quite a safe buy in the used car market, where most cars usually land up after their warranties have expired. This Hector is priced at Rs. 20.22 lakhs, which makes it over 1 lakh cheaper than a brand new example in Sharp DCT trim, which costs Rs. 21.4 lakhs in Bangalore. You can directly contact the seller of this car, here.
The Sharp DCT trim of the MG Hector is powered by a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 141 Bhp-250 Nm on tap. The gearbox is a twin clutch, 6 speed unit. Since the Hector is a heavy car, driving the turbo petrol automatic variant with a light foot is recommended if you’re looking for good mileage. With a heavy right foot, don’t be surprised to get about 8-9 Kmpl in city driving, which is quite normal for a petrol SUV this big and heavy.
For those who want the best fuel efficiency, MG Motor offers the Hector with a 2 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 170 Bhp-350 Nm on tap. The diesel engine is paired to a six speed manual gearbox as standard. The Hector is available with another engine option: a 1.5 liter turbo petrol mild hybrid. In mild hybrid trim, the turbo petrol engine delivers more mileage (15.81 Kmpl ARAI certified) but is available only with a 6 speed manual gearbox. The same engine is also available as a non-mild hybrid unit but with a lower mileage figure of 14.16 Kmpl.
The Hector is among the most feature-rich SUVs in its segment. From 6 airbags, ABS, traction control, ESP, reverse parking camera, a 360 degree camera, reclining rear seat, automatic climate control, cruise control, a panoramic sunroof and a massive touchscreen infotainment interface with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the SUV has a lot to offer. Early next year, MG Motor will launch the BS6 compliant versions of the Hector as well as a top-of-the-line 6 seat model that stresses on comfort for the back seaters.
