In the past few years, India has become one of the largest markets for automobile manufacturers. Even luxury cars are selling quite well and people are now also buying that are extremely expensive. Because of this not a lot many examples of them are available in our country. Here, is a Mercedes Benz E350 that is currently on sale.

The video is uploaded on YouTube by Motor Lazer. It is the W212 version of the E350’s pre-facelift. It is a 2009 model that is finished in Cardinal Red. The host also takes the car for a drive. The host says that only 10 cars came to India in this paint scheme. There are no close-up shots of the exterior and the interior of the E350. So, we cannot really comment on the condition of the vehicle. Also, there is a hub missing from one of the alloy wheels.

According to the video, the E350 comes with a 3.5-litre V6 engine. It is an M272 series of the petrol engine. Because it is a big displacement engine with a lot of power and torque, the fuel efficiency takes a big hit. In the city, it delivers 5-6 kmpl and on the highways, it returns 10-11 kmpl. So, the vehicle is not fuel-efficient and the new owner would have to spend a lot of money on fuel bills.

The host also talks about the maintenance of the same car. The general service costs Rs. 15,000 which happens after every 10,000 km. In this, the engine oil, air filter, fuel filter etc are replaced. Then there are brake pads that cost Rs. 13,500 each. The tyre size of the E350 is 285/35 R18. They cost between Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 each. This depends on the manufacturer of the tyre that you opt for. This E350 uses a 100 amp battery that costs Rs. 17,000 to replace.

As we can see that maintenance of such vehicles is quite expensive. Also, if you would notice in the video, there are certain errors that are popping in the instrument cluster. What can be an even major issue is that the “Check Engine” light is glowing in the instrument cluster. So, there can be a big repair cost involved with this car.

Then there are other issues. For instance, there are limited service centres and spare parts are quite expensive because they are often imported from foreign countries. Moreover, it can take a lot of time for them to arrive. The labour cost of servicing such vehicles is also quite high. If the car breakdown on the side of the road, then a roadside mechanic would not be able to repair the vehicle. You would have to call roadside assistance or a tow truck to reach the nearby service centre which can also be quite far away considering the service network is not really great. Being a luxury vehicle, the tow truck can also charge a handsome amount of money.
