The Harrier has turned out to be quite a successful vehicle for Tata as was being expected from it. Pricing was the main factor on which Harrier’s fate hung and Tata simply nailed that by announcing its price range from Rs. 12.69 lakhs for the base variant at the launch event, held on 23rd of January. It has been leading the sales chart in its segment for the past few months. However, if you are planning to buy a new Tata Harrier right now, you might not be pleased to hear that waiting period on the SUV is more than three months in several parts of the country.

This leaves you with two options, first of which is to unload your hard earned cash at Tata dealerships and wait for a couple of weeks for your Harrier to arrive. Or, you can buy a used example of the SUV that is in mint condition and instantly take possession of the vehicle. That’s right, the Tata Harrier featured here wearing Calisto Copper paint shade is a used example that has an odometer reading of just 1,500 km. This Harrier is available for sale in Chennai at an asking price of Rs. 18 lakh. To let you know, this one is the top end XZ variant of the SUV that comes equipped with all the bells and whistles Tata has been marketing quite proudly till now. Deliveries of the Harrier started after January only so this one is just around 3-4 months old. Another major point to note here is that you’ll be making a hefty saving while taking this SUV home. The ex-showroom price of the Harrier XZ in Chennai is Rs. 16.66 lakh, which translates to Rs. 20.38 lakh on-road. Therefore, a price tag of Rs. 18 lakh seems reasonable for a car that has barely even got its tires on the road.

The Harrier comes with only a single engine-gearbox combination as of now, which is a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This engine churns out 138 Nhp of power along with 350 Nm of torque, enough to make this SUV move fairly quick. This one here is in stock condition barring for a few official accessories, including the window visors among others.

It runs on 17-inch stock alloy wheels and gets HID projector headlamps along with cornering fog lamps. Other such features on the XZ variant include remote locking, follow me home headlamps, wash wipe function for the rear windscreen, push-button start, keyless entry, rear parcel shelf, and power folding function for the wing mirrors. Coming to the interiors, it comes with automatic climate control, rear AC vents, 7-inch MID, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, 9 speaker JBL audio, steering-mounted audio controls and multi-drive modes.

A few other useful features include 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, rear defogger, reverse parking camera, cruise control, cooled glove box, rear seat armrest, leather seats and interiors trims. Safety features on the car include 6 airbags, hill hold, hill descent control, electronic stability control, ABS and EBD among others.

The question that arises now is whether to go for this used Harrier or not. Well, that depends on a few factors. Firstly, if you want to get your hands on a Harrier immediately then this is the deal for you. But if you want to drive one home from the dealership itself and are ready to wait for a few months, no issues with that too. The important thing to note here is that you’ll be getting an almost new car (we guess the new car smell would still be present in this one) along with a significant amount of saving. Moreover, the SUV is available for delivery immediately.
